He Looks For Energy in Indonesia (Hürriyet Newspaper Interview)

Emin Hitay, chairman of Hitay Holdings who is famous with his entrepreneurship and as a contemporary art collector prepares to make a series of energy investments in Indonesia. Hitay who set himself a goal of achieving turnover higher than 1 billion USD in 2016 says “I never have emotional ties with the businesses I found, I can sell all of my businesses.” Hitay who have founded more than 30 companies since he was 22 years old now utilizes the opportunities abroad.

Hitay sold Planet for 26 million Euros and sold his 20 percent shares in İddaa to the Greek for 80 million USD..

Who is Emin Hitay?
Emin Hitay grew up in Istanbul. He was graduated from Kabataş Boys’ High School. Hitay who studied in Ege University, Faculty of Business Administration had private sector experience in Silkar Holdings after being employed in Ege University, Institute of Calculus for 3 years as public servant. He decided to become an ‘entrepreneur’ after those experiences. Being interested in textile trade and having performed the business of thread weaving for a while; Hitay transferred from textile sector which he continued to operate till 1988 to the sector of data processing. Emin Hitay realized Exim, his first investment in data processing in 1988 together with his partner and introduced the barcode system to Turkey. Emin Hitay who progresses on the way to become one of the leading enterprise capital companies of Turkey has had more than 30 enterprises. The most famous ones among these have been Planet, İddaa and Bilyoner. Hitay purchased the waterside residence in Bebek, belonging to ship owner Sadıkoğlu Family in 2006 for 20 million USD. Hitay who sold Planet for 26 million Euros made his most striking sale by selling his 20 percent shares in İddaa to the Greek for 80 million USD.

Art Basel one of the most prestigious contemporary art exhibitions of the world was visited under sponsorship of Hitay Holdings. 12 students of Mimar Sinan has visited Art Basel up to date within the scope of the event the fourth of which has been realized this year

Hitay Holdings, one of the leading investment groups of Turkey took students of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (MSGSÜ) to Art Basel contemporary art exhibition, one of the most prestigious art events of the world; for the purpose of allowing art world in Turkey to catch new opportunities and contributing to viewpoints, manners, art understanding and vision of art students.

The students who went to Basel, Switzerland within the scope of the event the fourth of which has been organized this year were selected within the scope of the competition organized by MSGSÜ and sponsored by Hitay Holdings. Prof. Nedret Sekban, Ass. Prof. Dr. Orkun Müftüoğlu, Assist. Prof. Dr. Sedat Balkır and Assist. Prof. Dr. Hayri Ağan; instructors of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Department of Painting and Prof. Fatma Akyürek, Prof. Rahmi Aksungur, Prof. Neslihan Pala and Assist. Prof. Dr. Önder Büyükerman; members of Department of Sculpture as well as Emin Hitay, Chairman of Board of Directors of Hitay Holdings were among the selecting jury members for the competition.

Gökçe Kınay and Nurdan Erol, students of Department of Painting and Mert Çıkılmazkaya, student of Department of Sculpture joined the trip which started on 16th June 2016 Thursday and ended on 19th June 2016 Sunday. The students had the chance to watch other events in the city while touring the elite galleries which took part in the exhibition from all over the world.

Emin Hitay, Chairman of Hitay Holdings who talked about the event fourth of which was organized this year said: “I pay significance to contributing to art knowledge of our young candidate artists who will carve out a better future for Turkey. There are many valuable figures paying significance to art in our business world. Their support for such events shall be a significant force to carve out a better future for our country. Because we should remember that civilization is directly proportional not only to economic power but also to cultural and artistic power. I believe that young people who can expand their horizons through art can undersign works useful for the society. In Art Basel exhibition performed in Basel, Switzerland since 1970 elite examples of contemporary art are exhibited by means of the most significant art galleries of the world. The exhibition which is also organized in Hong Kong and Miami in addition to Basel has intense participation from all over the world every year. Totally 12 students have been taken so far including the last one to the exhibition where works of new artists in addition to works of old artists are exhibited. In the project the route of which will be reorganized in the form of traveling to Venice Biennale in one year and Art Base art exhibitions in the next year; students of 3rd and 4th grades of department of photography of MSGSÜ will also participate in the competition where the candidate artists who will participate in the trips shall be elected. Thus the number of students who will be taken to art trips of Hitay Holdings will increase up to four.
