Art Basel one of the most prestigious contemporary art exhibitions of the world was visited under sponsorship of Hitay Holdings. 12 students of Mimar Sinan has visited Art Basel up to date within the scope of the event the fourth of which has been realized this year
Hitay Holdings, one of the leading investment groups of Turkey took students of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (MSGSÜ) to Art Basel contemporary art exhibition, one of the most prestigious art events of the world; for the purpose of allowing art world in Turkey to catch new opportunities and contributing to viewpoints, manners, art understanding and vision of art students.
The students who went to Basel, Switzerland within the scope of the event the fourth of which has been organized this year were selected within the scope of the competition organized by MSGSÜ and sponsored by Hitay Holdings. Prof. Nedret Sekban, Ass. Prof. Dr. Orkun Müftüoğlu, Assist. Prof. Dr. Sedat Balkır and Assist. Prof. Dr. Hayri Ağan; instructors of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Department of Painting and Prof. Fatma Akyürek, Prof. Rahmi Aksungur, Prof. Neslihan Pala and Assist. Prof. Dr. Önder Büyükerman; members of Department of Sculpture as well as Emin Hitay, Chairman of Board of Directors of Hitay Holdings were among the selecting jury members for the competition.
Gökçe Kınay and Nurdan Erol, students of Department of Painting and Mert Çıkılmazkaya, student of Department of Sculpture joined the trip which started on 16th June 2016 Thursday and ended on 19th June 2016 Sunday. The students had the chance to watch other events in the city while touring the elite galleries which took part in the exhibition from all over the world.
Emin Hitay, Chairman of Hitay Holdings who talked about the event fourth of which was organized this year said: “I pay significance to contributing to art knowledge of our young candidate artists who will carve out a better future for Turkey. There are many valuable figures paying significance to art in our business world. Their support for such events shall be a significant force to carve out a better future for our country. Because we should remember that civilization is directly proportional not only to economic power but also to cultural and artistic power. I believe that young people who can expand their horizons through art can undersign works useful for the society. The turn is Venice Biennale’s
In Art Basel exhibition performed in Basel, Switzerland since 1970 elite examples of contemporary art are exhibited by means of the most significant art galleries of the world. The exhibition which is also organized in Hong Kong and Miami in addition to Basel has intense participation from all over the world every year. Totally 12 students have been taken so far including the last one to the exhibition where works of new artists in addition to works of old artists are exhibited. In the project the route of which will be reorganized in the form of traveling to Venice Biennale in one year and Art Base art exhibitions in the next year; students of 3rd and 4th grades of department of photography of MSGSÜ will also participate in the competition where the candidate artists who will participate in the trips shall be elected. Thus the number of students who will be taken to art trips of Hitay Holdings will increase up to four.
